Velma Rose Yazzie died Oct. 30, 2005.
Velma was born Sept. 6, 1949 in Toppenish, Wash. She spent her childhood years in Brownstown, Wash., then moved where she attended and graduated from Riverside Indian School in Anadarko, Okla., then moved to Chicago, Ill. to attend college, where she met her soul mate. Velma enjoyed traveling with her husband, going to the mountains, fishing and spending time with her family, especially spending all the time that she could with her eight grandchildren. She worked in many different places, with Wal-Mart her last place of employment.
She is survived by her husband Hubert M. Yazzie; two daughters Lennette Yazzie, Danielle Hull; and son, Morris Kallappa, Jr.; one brother, two sisters, five grandsons, and three granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents David and Irene; her sister Karen Winnier; and one granddaughter Melodie Jim.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 5 at McKinley Indian Mission in Toppenish, Wash.
