Margaret Ruth Hintze, 78, died Nov. 12, 2005.
She was born in Morgan County, Alabama Dec. 6, 1926, the daughter of Marvin and Flossie Freeman. She grew up on cotton farms in Andrew Chapel and Mount Vernon, Ala. Margaret moved to Florence, Ariz. in 1954 and then to the Show Low area in 1958. She moved to her present home in Payson 12 years ago. She took care of children for working mothers for over 30 years.
She started a hobby of quilting when she was a young girl in Alabama and continued to quilt dozens of beautiful quilts throughout her lifetime. She had lived away from the South for over 50 years but continued her gracious Southern hospitality all of her life. Margaret was a member of Rock of Ages Lutheran Church of Payson.
She is survived by her husband Arthur (Chuck) Hintze; daughter Linnith (David) Arnold of Yorba Linda, Calif.; and son Brennon (Bonnie) Owens of Taylor. She is also survived by two stepsons, Paul (Valerie) Hintze of Tucson, Arizona and Gary (Kim) Hintze of Show Low; two stepdaughters Connie (Nick) Worth of Taylor and Laurri (David) Davis of Snowflake; two sisters, Athalene Netherton of Horton, Alabama and Charlotte King of Cullman, Ala. Margaret had nine grandchildren and seven great-grand children.
Her brother, Hewlett Freeman of Cullman, Alabama preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19 at Rock of Ages Lutheran Church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to Rock of Ages Lutheran Church-204 W. Airport Road Payson, Arizona 85541, or to RTA Hospice, Payson.
