Nancy Scott, a former resident of Round valley, died suddenly and peacefully in her sleep, at her home in Hubbard, Texas, Nov. 12, 2005.
Nancy raised quarter horses at the Scott Quarter Horse Ranch at Hubbard, Texas. In earlier years some of her horses won many trophies at various horse shows. She also made beautiful wooden walking sticks from Texas mesquite wood and was talented at decorating them with Native American designs.
Nancy and her family resided in Round Valley in the early 1990s. She was among the first volunteers to log in many hours as a tour guide and museum clerk at the Casa Malpais Pueblo, just after it was opened to visitors. She was a member of the Casa Malpais Chapter of the Arizona Archaeological Society. Nancy also volunteered many hours excavating at the pueblo and took several archaeology classes offered by A.A. S.
Nancy's survivors include her husband Jerry; daughter Tasha and son Teddy; and three grandchildren, as well as many, many friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov 17 in Hubbard, Texas. Burial was at Damron, Texas, the following day.
