FREELAND, Charles Lee


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 11/25/2005 Charles Lee Freeland, 74, died at the White Mountain Regional Medical Center, Nov. 20, 2005. He was born to John and Minda Freeland June 27, 1931 in Coolidge. Chuck worked as a civil engineer for 50 years before retiring. He was a "one of a kind" man. Friends and loved ones agree that to know him was to love him. He was affectionately known to his sons as Watash, to his grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as to all his extended family he was known as Papa Chuck. His family will long remember his two-dollar pool games and fun trips to the casinos. He was famous for his joke telling and sharp wit. His love and zeal for life will remain with those who loved him forever. Chuck's survivors include his wife, Etta Freeland, Eagar; sons John Michael (Rhonda) Freeland, La Quinta, Calif.; Charles Luke (Lois) Freeland, Eagar; a brother Roland Freeland, Green Valley; sisters Betty Montgomery, Imperial Beach, Calif; Charlotte Savage, Tucson, Marry Hammon, Flagstaff, and Johnette El Sharif, Tucson, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. His parents John and Minda Freeland; sisters Shirley Martin and Debbie White preceded him in death. A private memorial for family and friends was held Thursday, Nov. 24 (Thanksgiving Day) at the Freeland home in Eagar. Burnham Mortuary, Eagar, handled the arrangements.
