RAINS, Clare Christine


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 12/30/2005 Clare Christine Rains, 64, died Dec. 25, 2005 at the RTA Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Lakeside. She was born in Los Angeles, Calif. The family later moved to Kansas City, Kansas where she completed her education through high school. Clare then moved back to Los Angeles and lived there several years before moving to Holbrook in 1993. She was a homemaker all her life. She loved animals and she enjoyed feeding and caring for any stray cats that came around. Clare and her companion Ray Newton loved traveling around the state. They have fished almost every lake and stream in the state of Arizona. She also enjoyed arts and crafts, which she loved to give away to her family and friends. Clare was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church. When Clare became ill she set her goal to live until Christmas. She passed away peacefully Christmas morning. Clare is survived by her companion, Ray Newton of Holbrook; brother, Douglas (Pam) Nelson of Chicago, Ill.; four sisters, Joyce (Doug) Brown of Kansas City, Kan., Janice (Jeff) Lee of San Diego, Calif., Madge (Sandy) Nelson of Phoenix and Maxine (Don) Tyler of Holbrook; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Holbrook. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening at Owens Mortuary in Holbrook.
