BEARD, Dorene

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 01/06/2006 Dorene Wasson Beard, 70, died at her home in Eagar, Jan. 1, 2006. She was born July 7, 1935 in Koscinsko, Miss. and had been a resident of Arizona for 51 years. Dorene was a homemaker. She loved her children and doted on her grandchildren. She especially liked the fact that many other "kids" in town called her Mom and Gram. She also was an avid Diamondback fan. Her survivors include her children Patrick E. Beard (Carli Jo), Eagar; Linda L. Sprague (Bill), Tempe and Peggy Beard, Tempe; brothers Raymond and Roy Wasson; sisters Marjorie Williams, Nell Wasson, Donna Jean Pickel, Paula Pegram, Barbara Fowler and Betty Standard; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Also surviving is an aunt Dean Heart. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Gardner Beard, Sr.; son Samuel "Bo" Gardner Beard, Jr.; brothers Donald, Wendall and Francis Wasson and her parents Ernest and Viola Wasson. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 7 at 2 p.m. at Burnham Mortuary, 535 N. Main St., Eagar. Burnham Mortuary, Eagar handled the arrangements.
