Curtis Barnes passed away Oct. 2, 2009, in Lake Havasu City, at the age of 74. Curtis was born on March 9, 1935, in Cameron, Okla., to Theola and Lena (Pippin) Barnes.
Following high school, Curtis enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving his country for 10 years. Upon being discharged, Curtis continued to work for the government as a fuel handler at the Miramar Naval Air Station.
Curtis and his wife Susan made Lake Havasu City their home six years ago, moving from El Cajon, Calif. Curtis enjoyed his life and lived it well. Plainly put, his hobby was “having fun.” Papa, as his family called him, will be loved and missed by everyone.
Curtis is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Susan Barnes; step-daughters, Adrienne Brown, of Encinitas, Calif., Lynda Shehan, of Carlsbad, Calif., and Patricia Johnson, of Alpine, Calif.; sisters, Marie, Viola and Faye, all of Roswell, N.M.; grandchildren, Jessica, Michelle, Dan, Steven, Lindsey, Buddy, Bradley and Samantha; great-grandchildren, Devin, Blake, Zachary and Rebecca.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Arnold; and sister, Venice.
