RIPPY, Billy G. (Bud)


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 01/20/2006 Billy G. "Bud" Rippy Bud Rippy, 74, died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2005 in Show Low after a lengthy illness. He was born Dec. 10, 1931 in Weatherford, Texas. His family settled in Arizona in the Williams-Red Lake area. Bud enlisted in the Army and served in the Korean War. After the war he went to work in Henderson, Nev. as a Lab Technician for many years. He then came to Arizona where he worked in various cities as a carpenter and also worked in the South Rim of the Grand Canyon where he was a trail guide and then assistant manager. He loved taking tours into the Canyon on the mules and telling his stories and folklore of the Canyon. While working at the Canyon he met Fran, the love of his life for 27 years. After working for the Grand Canyon they moved to Show Low where he worked for "The Ranch" and then the Forest Service until his illness. Bud is survived by his sons, Johnny (Michele) Rippy and Billy (Kyle) Rippy; sisters, Wanda (Jack) Mathias, Helen (Paul) Linville, Patty Rogers, Susan Thompson and Josephine, Arlene, Karen, Patty and Susy; brothers, J.L. Rippy and Michael Connelly; grandchildren, Kristopher Rippy, Stephen, Hannah, and David Burks, Chyanna and Dillon; adopted daughters, Selena Severson, Patty Burks and Carol Wheat; and finally his Frannie. Bud also had many nieces, nephews and many many friends who will miss him. The family would like to acknowledge RTA Hospice and Palliative Care workers for all of their care and support.
