The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 01/24/2006 Raenell Hager, 71, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006 in Flagstaff. She was born in Woodruff and was raised there until she was in her teens. The family then moved into Holbrook where she lived for most of the rest of her life. She graduated from Holbrook High School in 1951. In 1955 she married Paul E. Hager. He was serving in the U.S. Air force and so they lived at several bases in the US and twice in Germany. When he retired in 1972 they returned to Holbrook to make their home. She had worked as a telephone operator on the bases where they lived and she went to work for the telephone company in Holbrook and later retired after 25 years of service. Raenell was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in various capacities in the church. She enjoyed attending the Temple in Snowflake. What she enjoyed the most was being with her family and taking care of them whenever she was needed. She enjoyed traveling throughout her life and looked forward to more trips when she passed away suddenly from a short illness. Raenell will be missed by all of her family and friends. Raenell is survived by her son, David C. (Tammy) Hager of Queen Creek; daughters, Dawn (Raymond) Turley of Holbrook and Dayanne (Neil) Hatch of Semi Valley, Calif.; brothers, Merwin (Diana) DeWitt of Winslow, H. Keith (Marian) DeWitt of Holbrook, Neil (Barbara) DeWitt of Whiteriver; sister, Gayle Richards of Holbrook; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Hager; her parents, Malcolm and Martha DeWitt; her sister, Betty Reed and brother, Reeves DeWitt. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23 at the Holbrook Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday evening at Owens Mortuary in Holbrook. Interment will be in the Woodruff Cemetery.
