Carlos L. Sanudo, 84, died Feb. 8, 2006 surrounded by those he loved the most.
He was born in Spain March 11, 1921. He came to the United States 49 years ago to work with Gunnar Thude in the sheep business. Mr. Sanudo eventually married Gunnar's daughter, Elma Thude. Together they ran the family business, Long Tom Sheep Company until her death in 2002.
Winters were spent in Chandler and Elfrida and summers at their Long Tom Canyon Ranch in Heber. It is there where Elma and Carlos will lay amongst the whispering of the trees, the beautiful meadow, and the sounds of trickling water in the stream. It was their paradise.
Carlos spent his summers at the place loved most in life, his ranch.
In 2005 his son Gerald Hancock asked him if he would like to come live with him in Holbrook, Gerald was committed to taking care of Carlos to make sure his life was full. It is there where his grandchildren surrounded him with love and laughter; in his words, "The Best Year of my Life." He gave us the best year of our lives as well.
Mr. Sanudo is survived by his sons, Gerald (Lois) Hancock, Gunnar and family, Jim (Connie), Dennis (Patty and Mike (Karen Howe); grandchildren, Jed (Julie), Paul, Kristi, Gunnar (Kristi), Julie, Brian (Lori), Sarah (Charlie) and Amber; great grandchildren, Jalen, Jessica, Kristin, Caitlin, Kelsey, Brooke and Staci; nephew, Miguel Arteche and family.
