Mervin Basil Baker, 67, died Monday, Feb. 13, 2006 in Show Low. He was born in Exira, Iowa.
He moved to Long Beach, Calif. in 1956. In 1957 he began working for GTE. He met Maxine Kettner in 1958 and they were married in 1961. They remained in Long Beach until Mervin retired in 1993, when they moved to Show Low. Mervin then received his real estate license and worked for Tenney and Associates here in the White Mountains. He continued his work in real estate until the time of his passing. He was active in The Boy Scouts of America for many years and an active member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Long Beach for many years. Mervin enjoyed fishing.
Mervin is survived by his wife, Maxine F. Baker of Show Low; sons, Todd (Michelle) Baker of Salem, Ore., Trevor (Jill) Baker of Long Beach, Calif.; brothers, Byron (Margery) Baker of Fort Collins, Colo., Paul (Judy) Baker of Shelton, Wash.; sister, Carole (Norm) Sorensen of Palmyra, Wis.; four grandchildren, Zachary, Alex, Abby and Cole.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 3 at the Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church.
