PEW, Virginia Lillian


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 03/03/2006 Virginia Lillian Pew, 99, died Feb. 25, 2006 at the Carriage House on Garden Lane in Snowflake. Virginia was born in Mesa Dec. 31, 1906. She attended elementary school and graduated from Mesa High School in 1925. Soon thereafter she married Clayton M. Pew. They lived in Mesa for several years and then moved to Phoenix where they lived until 1953. They then moved to Show Low and she has lived here ever since. Virginia was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed serving wherever she could. She loved being out doors and always raised a beautiful flower garden. She mostly enjoyed being with her family and watching her grandchildren grow. Virginia stayed independent and cared for herself until she was 98 years of age. She was loved by all who knew her and she appreciated the care given her by the owners and staff at the Carriage House and by the staff of RTA Hospice. Virginia is survived by her sons, Water C. Pew and Michael Pew both of Show Low; daughter, Edith Patricia Jorgensen of Show Low; 15 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton M. Pew, daughter, Marilyn Lefler, a grandson and a great granddaughter. Virginia was the last of 10 children to pass away. Graveside services will be held at noon Saturday, March 4 at the Mesa City Cemetery. Viewing will be held Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Owens Mortuary in Show Low.
