HUGHEY, Stella L.

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 03/03/2006 Stella L. Hughey, 93, died in Lakeside, Feb. 27, 2006. She was born at Broken Bow, Okla. May 3, 1912. Stella was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed walking and walked everywhere she wanted to go without thought to distance or terrain. She never learned to drive or possessed a driver's license. She married Bill Hughey early in life. From that union there were two children. Bill and Stella were sealed in the Mesa Temple in 1990. Stella called Reserve, N.M. home and later Snowflake. She had many friends in both places. Surviving Stella are her children, Bobby Hughey, Reserve, N.M. and Delma (Phil) Brewer, Snowflake, seven grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 27 great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her husband, Bill Hughey; her parents, Emmet and Martha Palmer; brother, Frank Oscar Palmer; and sister Dessie Palmer. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 2 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Luna Chapel in Luna, N.M. She was interred at the cemetery in Reserve, N.M. Burnham Mortuary, Eagar was entrusted with the arrangements.
