MAJESKY, Russel Luke


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 06/22/2010 Russel Luke Majesky died June 15, 2010, at Casa de la Luz Hospice in Oro Valley. He was born Aug. 31, 1920, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. "Deacon Russ" was ordained a Lay Deacon for the Diocese of Gallup, N.M. in 1992 and served in parishes in Springerville (St. Peter's) and Pinetop (St. Mary's). Russel and Sophie moved to Greer in 1982 and operated the White Mountain Bed and Breakfast for many years in their retirement. Russel retired from the Tucson Post Office after nearly 30 years of service. They left Greer in 2006 and moved to San Manuel for the lower elevation and warmer winter climate, where Russ continued limited deacon services at St. Bartholomew's Parish as long as his health permitted. Russel was a member of the Father Henry J. Miller Fourth Degree Assembly of the Knights of Columbus in Tucson. He also served his country during WWII in the North Africa and Italy Campaigns in the Army Air Corps. While residing in Greer, he was active in the local fire district, serving on the district board and as a volunteer firefighter. Funeral mass and burial were held June 19 in Tucson. Arrangements were handled by Bring's Memorial Chapel, 236 S. Scott in Tucson.
