WEBB,
Karl Albert
The White Mountain Independent,
Show Low, Arizona ~ 03/17/2006
Karl Albert Webb, 92, died Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at his home in Lakeside.
He was born in Thatcher on Jan. 5, 1914 to Jonathan Henry and Della Ray Webb. The following year the family moved to Pinedale. He attended elementary school in Pinedale and Mesa. It was during the depression and after completing the eighth grade he went to work in the log woods. This was when horses were used, before trucks.
He spent most of his life logging and in the sawmill industry. Over the years he worked with his father and brothers operating 26 different sawmills. He also hauled hay to the area from Yuma and the Gila Valley. He retired in 1985 when his commercial driving license expired. He married Annie Coral Frost on October 26, 1933 in the Mesa Arizona Temple.
Karl was a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities over the years. His greatest love was being involved in service projects, gathering wood for the widows and collecting funds for Boy Scouts of America. He also enjoyed working with cattle on the church ranch and taking care of the church apple orchard in Lakeside.
Karl loved the White Mountains and was a proud resident of Lakeside. He enjoyed dancing and cherry pie. And he loved being with his family and watching his grandchildren grow. He was a man of integrity and his word was his bond. He could always be depended upon to do whatever he said he would do. Karl and his sweetheart Annie Coral of 72 years attended every funeral and wedding reception that they could in all of the surrounding communities. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Karl is survived by his wife, Annie Coral Webb of Lakeside; daughters, Karlene (Don) Bailey of Mesa, Idon (Wayne) Johnson of Joseph City and Nadean (Roy) Perkins of Snowflake; sons, Albert LeVan (Miki) Webb of Lakeside and Wendell Harrison (Lucille) Webb of Snowflake; one sister, Louise McDowell of Mesa; three brothers, Maurice "Reece" Webb of Snowflake, James "Jay" Wilford Webb of Lakeside and V. June Webb of Lakeside; 44 grandchildren, 144 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 25 at the Pinetop-Lakeside Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A viewing will be held Friday evening March 24 from 6-8 p.m. at Owens Mortuary in Show Low. Burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery.
