Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Thursday, October 1, 2009 Damien Quinn Matthies, 22, passed away on Sept. 19, 2009, in Lake Havasu City. He was born on April 10, 1987, in Portland, Ore., to Darren Michael and Kellie Lynn (Finigan) Matthies. Damien was a gentle and generous soul, always taking time for his family, especially his siblings. He enjoyed the outdoors, collecting rocks and crystals, and was aware of the energy surrounding and connecting us all. His passion was listening to and mixing music, particularly trance. Damien will be truly missed and always remembered with a smile. Damien is survived by his mother, Kellie Lynn Chapman and her husband Sean of Lake Havasu City; his father, Darren Michael Matthies and his wife Paula of Canby, Ore.; siblings, Adrian Parke, Riley Kennedy, Kelton Kennedy, River Kennedy, Emma Matthies, Lachlan Chapman, Declan Chapman and Tiernan Chapman; grandparents, Jinnie Finigan and Bill Price, Jack and Esther Finigan, David and Doris Matthies; great grandfather, Thomas Gilbert; aunt and uncle, Thaddeus and Crystal Fielder; and was preceded by uncle, Douglas Matthies and great grandmother, Doris Gilbert. On Sept. 25, a celebration of Damien’s life was held at the home of the Rev. Eileen M. Hein, PhD., who also officiated.
