Roger Douglas Bruton went to be with his Lord and Savior Dec. 19, 2009. He was being cared for at Serenity Assisted Living, here in Lake Havasu City. He was born Nov. 18, 1930, in Bakersfield, Calif. From there, the family moved to Spokane, Wash.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Homer Edward and Francys Carolyn Bruton; his only child, Cathy Jean Adler; brother, Richard Lee Bruton; and nephew, Leslie Allen Bruton.
Roger is survived by his wife of 53 years, Beverly Jean Bruton, of Needles and Lake Havasu City; a granddaughter, Ciara Zamborski, and a great-grandson, both of Las Vegas; sister, Dorothy Lambert (Willard), of Lusby, Md.; brother, Robert (Catherine) Bruton, of Lake Havasu City; nephews, Gary Bruton, of Anaheim, Calif., Douglas (Jennifer) Bruton, of Whittier, Calif.; nieces, Margo Bruton, of Downey, Calif., Cheryl Bruton, of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., Lorelei Long, of Washington, D.C., and Linda Ciancio (Carmello), of Huntington, Md.
Roger served in the U.S. Marine Corps and fought for the duration in the Korean War. He was promoted to the rank of tech. sergeant. After the war, he returned to California and worked for the Santa Fe Railroad out of Needles, Calif., as a fireman and then promoting to train engineer. Roger met Beverly Jean in Needles and they made Needles their home for 43-plus years. Roger was an avid golfer and would play, if possible, from daybreak till dark. Roger will be missed by family, many friends and Baby Girl.
Cremation will be handled by Lake Havasu Mortuary & Crematory.
