VALENZUELA, Juana Mercedes


Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Tuesday, June 22, 2010 Juana Mercedes Valenzuela passed away June 18, 2010, in Lake Havasu City at the age of 90. She was born in Zambrano, Colombia, on Sept. 24, 1919, to Bernabe Castro and Adelaida Barrios. Juana worked as a seamstress for many years in the textile industry. She married her beloved husband, Pedro Valenzuela, and together they made Glendale their home 21 years ago from Hialeah, Fla., until her husband's passing in 1992. Juana was a life-long Catholic with true grit and determination backed up by her strong work ethic and faith in God. She was proud to be a naturalized United States citizen and loved the United States of America. Juana was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Juana leaves behind her beloved family, sons, Adolfo Valenzuela, of Miami, Fla., Rafael Valenzuela, of Guanajuato, Mexico, Victor Valenzuela, of Miami, Fla., and Pedro Valenzuela, of Tierra Alta, Colombia; daughters, Flor Shakelford, of Miami, Fla., Alba Valenzuela, of Phoenix, Mercedes Granados, of Northridge, Calif., and Maria Posso of Peoria; 17 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
