MELVIN, Ronald R., Sr.

The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ Wednesday, June 23, 2010 Ronald R. Melvin, Sr., 61 years old, of Wickenburg and formerly of Wilmington, Ohio, passed away Saturday, June 12 at the Dell E Webb Memorial Hospital in Surprise, Ariz. He was born Dec. 13, 1948 in Blanchester, Ohio, son of the late William and Lucille (Wical) Melvin. A 1968 graduate of Wilmington High School, he was a very active member of the Wilmington Jaycees, where he had served as a past president. Ron retired from Mac Tools/Stanley in Sabina after 22 years of service. He had also volunteered as a firefighter for the Wilmington Fire Department for more than 17 years. Ron loved sports and had been a loyal statistician in football and basketball for both Wilmington High School and Wilmington College. Surviving are his daughters Michelle (Dave) Perey of Wickenburg; Nicole Galbreath of Wilmington; son Ron Melvin, Jr., of Wilmington; grandchildren Christina Ames, Brittany (Dustin) VanHoosier, Alex Tillapaugh, Allison Galbreath, Lindsey Tillapaugh, and Jackson Tillapaugh; sister Susan Delaney of Dayton; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-brother Joseph Patrick. Services were held in his hometown of Wilmington, Ohio
