Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Thursday, January 7, 2010 Lloyd H. Gurney, 78, passed away Jan. 5, 2010, at home. Lloyd was born on March 26, 1931, in Attica, Ohio, to Guy and Edna Gurney. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a jack-of-all-trades as well as a farmer in Ohio. Lloyd was a respected and innovative farmer creating unique machinery. One of his inventions was even featured in β€œThe Ohio Farmer.” He was a veteran of the Korean War. His sense of humor carried him through life. He also enjoyed eating lunch out and traveling. After his stroke, he taught himself to do relief carving. Even though he only had one functional hand, he produced many beautiful pieces. Lloyd and his wife, Carolyn, moved to Lake Havasu City in 1988 from Attica, Ohio. They built a wonderful relationship with many people in town. They enjoyed square dancing and round dancing. His father, mother, two brothers, and three sisters precede Lloyd in death. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Carolyn. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in October. He is also survived by four children; daughter, Sandy (Randy) Winland; son, Roger (Pat) Gurney; son, Doug (Mary) Gurney; daughter, Nancy (Roger) Schneider; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; and sister, Alice (Lauren) Eitle. Services will be Saturday at Church of Christ β€” Oro Grande on Oro Grande Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Havasu or Church of Christ β€” Oro Grande.
