WOLVERTON, Forest Phegley


Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Tuesday, March 30, 2010 Forest Phegley Wolverton passed away March 20, 2010, in Billings, Mont. He was born on July 20, 1923, in Poland, Ind. He graduated from Brazil High School in 1941 and married Mary Kessel of Brazil, Ind., in 1942. Shortly thereafter, the couple moved to Anaheim, Calif., and Forest was inducted into the United States Army in 1943. He honorably served his country in the Philippines during World War II. Forest was a lifetime member of the BPOE, VFW, The American Legion and the LHC Eagles. Forest achieved the rank of lieutenant on the Anaheim police force and retired in 1968. He and Mary were well known for their involvement with the community and church. Mary preceded him in death in 1966. In 1969 Forest moved to Bullhead City to upstart and operate the Mohave Valley Shed Co. In 1982, he moved to Lake Havasu City and started working for the agricultural inspection station on the Arizona-California border. Forest retired from there in 1987 and in 1992 he married Blanche Johnson of Lake Havasu City. They spent their golden years as winter residents of Lake Havasu City and summer visitors to Montana. In 2006, they made Billings, Mont., their permanent home. Forest was preceded in death by his two sisters and a brother. He is survived by his wife, Blanche Johnson, of Billings, Mont.; his son, Gary Wolverton of Phoenix; his daughter, Luann Waddell (Mike) of Mesa; his stepson, Gregg Johnson (Chris) of Billings, Mont.; his stepdaughter, Debbie Nutter (Bill) of Kalispell, Mont.; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, four nephews and two nieces.
