Robert (Bob) Britton, 74, passed away at his home in Lake Havasu City on Sept. 4, 2009, after a long struggle with heart illness. He was born on March 21, 1935 in Taunton, Mass.
Bob enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. He has been all over the world and talked about where he was going to go next up until the very end. There was nothing he would not try, but his favorite things in life were dancing, riding motorcycles, and traveling with Bette his beloved wife of 53 years, along with playing pool with his buddies and watching stock car racing with his son. Bob will always be remembered by his children for driving stock car #20. He loved to talk and share his past with his children, grandchildren and friends. Bob was self-employed most of his life in many different businesses. He owned and operated a decorative statuary business for more than 30 years, before retiring to Lake Havasu City. Bob was a U.S.A. veteran and a member of the Elks Lodge #2399.
He is survived by his wife Bette R. Britton; children, Robert L. and Penny Britton, Arlene Smith, Marlene and Joe Gallegos; 15 grandchildren, Lyle, Wesley, Brittany, Jalenie, Allen, Robert, Christopher, Jeremy, Kelley, Robert L. Jr., Amanda, Aunjelique, Christina, Joseph and Reba; seven great-grandchildren, Kevin, Beaulee, Haylee, Emmalee, Jenna, Serenity and Brian; sisters, and their husbands, Maryann Sisk, Teresa and Randy Burr, Paulette and Carl Jacobson; along with many nieces, nephews and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. and Blanche Britton; daughter, Darlene Britton Reid Ellis; and son, James L. Britton.
Bob was admired and will be remembered by everyone he met.
A celebration of life will be held at the Elks Lodge in Lake Havasu City on Oct. 3. Please contact Penny at 928-855-3132 for time and information.
