William “Bill” Robert Leamons, 85, passed away at Kindred Hospital in Phoenix Aug. 15, 2009. He was born on Sept. 27, 1923, in Central City, Neb.
Bill and his wife Emma “Penny” moved to Lake Havasu City 17 years ago from Long Beach, Calif. He proudly served his country in the Merchant Marines, World War II. Bill worked as a design engineer for North American Rockwell in Bellflower, Calif., for 32 years. He worked on the design team on the re-entry system for the space shuttle. Bill was a member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge 2399 and was involved in several golf clubs over the years. He also loved fishing, friends and family. Bill was a wonderful husband, father, friend and grandfather.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Penny; son, David Leamons and wife Nancy; brother, Don Leamons and wife Rose; sister, Kathryn Garcia; and granddaughter, JaVae Leamons. He was preceded in death by his daughter, JaVae Leamons; parents, Lester and Lucille Leamons; brother, Tom and sister-in-law, Pat.
A gathering of friends and family will be Saturday at the Lakeridge Estates Clubhouse to celebrate Bill's life.
In lieu of flowers, his family has requested that donations be made to Hospice of Havasu, P.O. Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ; 86405.
