Bruce Daryl Owens, 69, of Flagstaff, died Sunday, June 20, 2010.
Mr. Owens was born Jan. 15, 1941, in Los Angeles. He spent his childhood on the Venice beaches and the Santa Monica Pier. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force as a young man and was honorably discharged after becoming a paramedic. He trained in some of the Air Force's first pilot-rescue programs. He then spent 15 years as a paramedic for the city of Los Angeles.
He retired early from public service to pursue a career in broadcasting, the culmination of which included owning several radio stations in California and Arizona. He retired in Flagstaff. He was loved and will be missed more than he would ever know.
Mr. Owens is survived by his wife of 37 years, Alma Sue "Susie" Owens; children Penny, Polly and Bruce (Thera); nine grandchildren; one brother; one sister; and his mother-in-law.
A memorial service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lake Mary Chapel, 4165 S. Lake Mary Road. Condolences can be sent to his family at www.norvelowensmortuary.com.
