The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 03/31/2006 Gayla Sue Gomez-Mendez, 35, died March 26, 2006 in Phoenix. She was born Sept. 13, 1970 in Merced, Calif. to Linda Reed and Gaylen White Sr. Gayla recently moved to Lakeside from Yuma where she resided for two years. She worked at The Native New Yorker as a waitress since arriving in Lakeside. She is survived by her husband, Frank Mendez of Lakeside; mother, Linda (Sheldon) Reed of Lakeside; father, Gaylen (Kathy) White Sr. of Carterville, Mo.; two daughters, Brandy Dumm of Lakeside, Mercedes Garza of Dinuba, Calif.; one son, Jordan Dumm of Lakeside; three sisters, Sabrina (Willie) Kern of Lakeside, Katrina (Kent) Ridgeway of Tucson, Shawntel McHenry of Joplin, Mo.; one brother, Gaylen (Christina) White, Jr. of Joplin, Mo; grandparents Virginia (Carl) Murphy of Ceres, Calif.; mother and father in-law, Carmen and Al Dorman of Yuma. Graveside Services will be held 3 p.m. at the Lakeside Cemetery Saturday, April 1. There will be a visitation from 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 31, at Owens Mortuary in Show Low.
