Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Monday, July 13, 2009 Verna (Tootie) Watkins passed away peacefully at home July 9, 2009, after a lingering illness. She was born in Reynolds, Ind., on Sept. 21, 1926, to Carl and Edna Ruemler. She was married on July 6,1947, to Robert Watkins. They raised their family and moved to Lake Havasu City in August 1969. Tootie had a long and successful career as a staff administrator for Citizens Utilities Telephone, retiring after 22 years. She was an artist, a poet and she loved to sing in her church choir. Tootie is survived by her sister Thelma; children, Andria (Michael) Luboa, Pat Watkins and Andre Duhamel, Linda (Bud) Haas, Bill Watkins and Chatty Larsen, Phil Watkins and daughter-in-law Susanne Watkins; sister, Thelma Wells; grandchildren, Fred (Tessa) Haas, Adrianne Watkins and Sarah Jacobs; two great-grandchildren, Hailey and Liam Haas; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Watkins; sisters, Edith and Norma; and brother, Carl. Memorial services will be held at Lamb of God Lutheran Church on July 18 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Harold Kallio officiating.
