DAY, Wallace Glenn


Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Friday, July 10, 2009 Wallace Glenn Day passed away Monday, July 6, 2009, at his residence in Lake Havasu City at the age of 70. Glenn, as he was known to his family and friends, was born on June 13, 1939, in Brigham City, Utah, to Harvey and Susan (Finn) Day. Following graduation, Glenn enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1958, a career that would span 23 years. Glenn retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant. The last years in the Air Force, he was appointed to the position of superintendent of Aerospace Control and Warning Systems at Norad in Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado Springs, Colo. Among the decorations he received were the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Gallantry Cross with Palm. Glenn also worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 10 years. Glenn was a good all-around athlete, excelled in anything he participated in. He also enjoyed watching sports, loved playing Pinochle and was an accomplished fisherman. Glenn was also a life member of the VFW Post 9401, of Lake Havasu City. Glenn is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Kathleen; brothers Dallas E. Day, of West Valley, Utah, Eugene Thomas Whitaker, of Ogden, Utah, Gary Whitaker, of Ogden, Utah, and Darrell McIntire, of Georgia; sisters, Pat Moody, of Ogden, Utah, and Judy Vasquez, of Colorado; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Day. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 9401 and American Legion Post 81 Saturday, 1 p.m., followed by a Scripture service with Deacon Bob Treichel offering words of comfort and inspiration. Both services will be held at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in Glenn’s name be made to Hospice of Havasu, P.O. Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405.
