Denis Robert Malm passed away June 30, 2009, at his home with his family by his side. Denis was born in Wahoo, Neb., on Dec. 11, 1946, to Robert and Dorothy (Rasmussen) Malm.
Denis moved to Lake Havasu City 37 years ago from Nebraska where he attended the University of Nebraska. Upon arriving in Lake Havasu, he became a partner with Wing Wachtel and Don Biehn in the law firm of Wachtel, Biehn & Malm. He was a member of the Mohave County Bar Association serving as secretary in 1978 and president in 1979, member of the State Bar of Arizona and also served on numerous committees from 1976 to 1998, and was a certified specialist dealing in injury and wrongful death litigation.
Aside from his many accomplishments and rigorous work schedule, Denis was an avid golfer, enjoyed hunting and was a licensed fishing guide and several years ago, he purchased a 43-foot motor home and took to the open road, traveling around the country. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was a licensed pilot. He had a knack for gardening and growing his own vegetables.
Denis is survived by his wife of five years, Karen Malm; sons, Brian Thomas Malm, of Maricopa, John Michael Malm, of Las Vegas, Glen Earl Malm, of Tempe, and Michael E. Harris, of Parker; daughters Kellie Tanner-Malm, of Lake Havasu City, and Natasha Elizabeth Malm, of Peoria, brothers, John Malm, of Gregory, S.D., Charles Malm, of Wahoo, Neb., Andrew Malm, of Plymouth, Mich.; sisters, Eileen Pinkerton, of Billings, Mont., Loretta Bendz, of Bozeman, Mont., Mary Malm, of Denver, Colo., Margaret Malm, of Denver, and Elizabeth Peterson, of Salt Lake City, Utah; as well as his grandchildren Mira, Dechen, Diego, Ayissa, Gavin, Kayla and Karley.
A celebration of Denis’ life will be held at a later date.
