Alex Alfaro, 84, of Tucson, passed away on February 12, 2009.
Survived by his loving wife, Mary; sister, Charlotte; brother, Bernie; sister-in-law, Ema (Henry); and caretaker, Manny (Eloise).
He was born in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Rose and Jesus. Alex served proudly as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division, U.S. Army during WWII.
He moved to Tucson in 1955 while working in the meat packing business where he met his wife Mary. They started Mary's Market, which has been serving Tucson since 1986. He was well known and loved throughout the community and was a proud member of both the Knights of Columbus and South Tucson Lions Club.
Visitation services are scheduled for Tuesday, February 17, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at MARTINEZ FUNERAL CHAPELS. Mass will be on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at St. Margaret's Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. with an interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery.
