Roberto (Toto)
Roberto Arellano B. Surrounded by loving family and friends, Roberto "Toto" Arellano B. went to eternal life with Jesus on October 2, 2008. Toto was born in Pilares, near the mining community of Nacozari de Garcia, Sonora, Mexico on June 9, 1922 to Manuela and Roberto Arellano Sr., himself a magistrate of Agua Prieta, Mexico, and reportedly a descendant of Plutarco Elias Calles, the president of Mexico from 1924 to 1928.
Toto was educated at the University of Guadalajara, studying cinematography and accounting. Following education, he emigrated with family to the United States in 1956, working until retirement at the San Manuel Magma Copper Mine, until its closing in 1999 the largest underground operating copper mine in the country.
Toto was patriarch over a family that included eight brothers and sisters, and ten half-brothers and half-sisters. He leaves behind an adoring family, including his loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Maria; daughters Alma Lopez (Randy), Marisela Sterba, Maria Arellano-Ramirez (Oscar Ramirez) and Raquel Arellano (Paul Tang); son Robert Arellano Jr.; grandchildren Vanessa and Jennifer Sterba, Virginia and Alexandria Lopez, Michael and Selena Tang, Zoe Maria Arellano and her sister, Ciara Williams and her son, Dominic Madrid. He is also survived by the following and their families: brother, Alejandro of Tucson; and brother, Alfredo, sister Josefina "Chanta," half-brothers Jesus "Mico", Luis, Pepe and Jorge, and half-sisters Maritza, Ninchi, Lupita, Coca, Finita and Panchita, all of Mexico, as well as countless cousins and relatives.
Mass was held on Wednesday October 8, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Church. Burial followed at Holy Hope Cemetery.
