LAPONSIE, James Harold


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 04/21/2006 James Harold LaPonsie, 83, died Sunday, April 16, 2006 at his home in Linden. He was born in Marysville, Mich. Jim grew up and attended school in Pontiac, Michigan. Following high school he enlisted in the Navy and served in World War II. Following his military service he married his longtime sweetheart, Eleanor Hammond in Rochester, Michigan on June 15, 1946. They made their home in Pontiac where Jim worked as a police officer. In 1959 they moved to Glendale where he continued his service in Law Enforcement.They moved to Phoenix in 1962 and then to Tucson in 1969. They lived in Tucson for 29 years, during which time, Jim was promoted to Captain. He retired in 1976. Jim and Eleanor enjoyed their retirement and traveled a lot. In 1998 they settled in Linden. Jim is survived by his wife, Eleanor M. LaPonsie of Show Low; daughters, Linda LaPonsie (Bob McGraw) of Shumway, Susan LaPonsie of Tucson, Janice LaPonsie of Show Low, Brenda (Chip) Wilson of Linden; sons, Charles LaPonsie of Tucson and James LaPonsie of Ohio; grandchildren, Jennifer, Amy, Andy, Teena and Alex; and six great-grandchildren. Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 21 at St. Rita's Catholic Church in Show Low. Memorial Contributions may be made to RTA Hospice and Palliative Care 1789 W.
