Marie was a teacher in Michigan and later a bookkeeper for Our Lady of Sorrows Parish (Farmington, MI) and then again with her husband Bob as they ventured west to Arizona. Even after the age of 70, Marie loved to be around people and held part time jobs in a local Christmas decoration store and Hallmark shop.

Over the years, Marie volunteered with Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church (Detroit), Our Lady of Sorrows Parish (Farmington, MI), St Rita's in the Desert (Vail, AZ), St. Pius X (Tucson) and her own parish, St. Cyril's (Tucson).
