Shirley Park Nielson, 74, died peacefully Saturday, April 22, 2006 in Holbrook after a long illness.
He was born on April 22, 1932 in Blanding, Utah. As a youth he excelled in sports and enjoyed hunting. He was a veteran of the Koran War. Following the war Shirley worked in the Uranium mining industry. He retired fro the Arizona Department of Administration in 1996.
Shirley is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sandra Ellis Nielson; four children, Jeralie McKinnon, Joseph Shirley Nielson, Dale Park (Jeanmarie) Nielson and Daniel Layne Nielson; his cherished grandchildren; Russell Niels McKinnon, Paige (Scott) Peterson, Krista McKinnon, Micah Marie (Aaron) Breckenridge, Jens Park Nielson, Madeline Story Nielson and Parker Wells Nielson; his very special great grandchildren, Taylor and Tatum Peterson and Bo Matthew and Luke Edward McKinnon; his brothers, Francis David Nielson and Hans Joseph Nielson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Shirley Nielson and Marian Elizabeth Park, and sister, Merlan Kay Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2006 at the Holbrook Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Interment will be held at 1 p.m. (MST) Saturday, April 29 in Blanding, Utah.
