CLAYTON, Joseph Henry


CLAYTON, Joseph Henry, October 5, 1919 - June 22, 2009, 89, was delivered by the wings of angels to God in heaven in the early morning hours of June 22, 2009. He had been faithfully surrounded by his wife Betty and his children, Laurel Campbell, Carol Godare, and son, Michael Clayton, MD. Joseph now joins his first wife, Rita Margaret Clayton, mother of his children, and his eldest son, Lawrence Joseph Clayton, in heaven in the presence of his Lord. Born October 5, 1919, in Chicago, Illinois, Joseph attended Mount Carmel High School and later married Rita Margaret Caraher in 1941. In 1951, he moved Rita and their two sons to Tucson. Here, he and Rita raised their four children. Joseph worked his entire career with Mountain Bell of AT&T and retired after 41 years of service in 1981. After the death of Rita, Joseph married Betty May Davis in 1990. Together they shared their lives and faith for eighteen years, traveling and caring for one another. Joseph was preceded in heaven by his beloved wife, Rita, their eldest son, Lawrence, and grandson, Robert Clayton. He is survived by his wife, Betty Clayton; his children, Laurel Campbell, Carol Godare; son, Michael deWit Clayton, MD, by his many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joseph and his family extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who shared in his wonderful life. We invite you to join us as we commemorate his soul to God at Holy Mass at 10:00 a.m. June 25, 2009 at Santa Catalina Catholic Church, 14380 North Oracle Road.
