The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 05/02/2006 Helen Catherine Orlie, 88, died in Lake Havasu City, Wednesday, April 26, 2006. She was born June 24, 1917 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin to Edgar and Edna Karstedt. Helen moved to Lake Havasu City from Pinetop six years ago and she spent most of her adult life in Arizona and California. She was a graduate of Columbia School of Nursing in Chicago. Her nursing career included caring for several Hollywood movie notables. She was president of the Arizona State Nursing Association and was active in the Arizona State Teachers Assoc. Helen and her husband, Fred, had a passion for boating, which led to living on lakes, including Havasu, Mohave and Powell. After their lake life, came extensive RV travel and finally a home in the White Mountains of Pinetop, before settling in Havasu. Helen will be deeply missed and always loved. Helen is survived by her son, Michael Fred Orlie; daughter, Dianne Lynn Schmitt; brother, Lyle Karstedt; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Orlie, sister, Marion Zinsmiester, two grandchildren, Daniel James Orlie and Janet Schmitt Dunn and a great-grandchild, Sabrina Dianne Dunn. A Private memorial service was held at Lake Havasu Mortuary Chapel Saturday, April 29. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Assoc, P.O.
