CONNER, Betsy Ann


Betsy Ann Conner, age 90, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home November 21, 2007. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Charles E. Conner (1993). Mrs. Conner is survived by her three daughters, Carol Maitland (Walt), Bobbie Gold (Stan) and Christine Yelton; six grandchildren, Jackie Pearce (Brian), Conner Childers (Kellie), Charles Englert (Lena), Kristopher Childers (Missy), Kathleen Rzewuski (Joe) and Craig Yelton; six great-grandchildren, Anthony Rzewuski, George Hennessey, Conner and Caden Childers and Dakota and Nathan Englert; two sisters-in-law, Betty Holesapple (Abby, 1990) and Mildred Holesapple (Newsom,1967), and a niece Linda Holesapple Johnson (Jeanne). Mrs. Conner was born in Bellbuckle, Tennessee, later moving to Mississippi where she spent her childhood. Her family then moved to Arizona where Betsy graduated from Tucson High School. After spending two years at Phoenix Junior College, Betsy moved back to Tucson and graduated from the University of Arizona. She was inducted into the Mortar Board and spent two years as the president of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. While raising her family, Betsy was active in the Junior League of Tucson, Assistance League and instrumental in founding the St. Luke's Home for Women. She was an avid bridge player enjoying many games with her lifelong friend and sister-in-law, Betty Holesapple. Betsy will always be remembered as a loving, caring Southern Belle who departed leaving a unique gift of love for her family. On Wednesday, November 28, there will be a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. at ANGEL VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 2545 N. Tucson Blvd. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 29 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1800 N. Camino Pio Decimo.
