The Arizona Daily Star, 29 June 2008 Leonarda Sanchez Felix Our loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and above all "good friend" passed away on June 26, 2008. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Dr. Edmundo F. Felix, MD in 1988. "Lita", as she has been affectionately called all of her life, is survived by her brother, Otto (Beatrice) Sanchez of Tucson; her four children, daughter, Felicia (Joe) Halka of Laguna Niguel, CA; sons, Edmundo (Elaine) Felix of Phoenix; Leonardo (Clemintina-deceased) Felix of Tucson and Albert (Chris) Felix of Tucson and nine grandchildren, Michelle (Yates) Hudson; AnnaMaria (Tim) Burke; Anton Halka; Monique (Jeff) Ashton; Greg (Kristie) Halka; Stefan Halka; Sonia (Tim) Lowery; Andrew Felix and Adrienne Felix. Additionally, she is survived by ten great-grandchildren and many, many relatives and friends. "Lita" was born on December 17, 1914 in Morenci, AZ and moved to Tucson when she was a teenager. She spent much of her younger years raising her four children and volunteering for such organizations as the Girl Scouts of the USA and many Catholic causes. She eventually became a sustaining member on the board of the Newman Center at the University of Arizona. She loved to play bridge and attained the level of Life Master. For that matter, however, she loved to play any card game. Additionally, she loved her U of A Wildcats sports teams. It was always a nail biting experience when it came time for her to watch the Wildcats play on TV. Visitors were always welcome in her household no matter what the time and nobody was allowed to leave hungry. A Rosary and viewing will be held on Monday, June 30th from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY (South Chapel), 240 S Stone Ave. A Mass to celebrate her life is schedule for Tuesday, July 1st., 10:00 a.m. at the Newman Center Chapel on the U of A Campus, 1615 E 2nd Street with internment immediately following at Holy Hope Cemetery. A reception will immediately follow in the Newman Center hall. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be directed to the Newman Center in the name of Lita Felix.
