JEWELL, David Leroy


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 05/19/2006 David Leroy Jewell died May 2, 2006 of a stroke in Portland, Oregon. He was born April 7, 1948 to David and Geannie Penrod Jewell in McNary. He worked at the Snowflake Paper Mill for about 11 years before moving to Longview, Wash. in 1979, where he worked for Nopac paper company as a millwright and machinist until his illness in Oct. 2005. He was in and out of the hospital with heart problems since 2000, until his passing. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Marttie Henly Jewell of Longview, Wash.; two sons, David Shane of Tacoma, Wash., William Shad of Forest Grove, Ore.; two daughters, Christine Spires (John) of Snowflake and Stephanie Rider of Kolma, Wash.; mother, Geannie Penrod Jewell of Show Low; two sisters Cena Cantrell (Deryl) and Katie Van Cleave (Clyde) of Show Low; two brothers Albert (Theresa) of Show Low and Stephen of Taylor; aunt Rayloa Branson of Newburg, Ore.; and uncle, George Penrod of Las Vegas, Nev.; nine grandchildren and lots of nieces and nephews. David was loved and will be missed by everyone who knew him. His father David Jewell preceded him in death in Sept. 1995.
