Ruby B. Medley Cassell, 93, died Monday, May 15, 2006, at Bannon Springs Ranch in Vernon.
She was born Feb. 3, 1913, in Kire, Virginia. She was the seventh of eight children born to James and Rosa Medley. She lived in Virginia most of her life, marrying Charles Cassell in 1937 and having two children. After Charles (Charlie) died, she married Paul Spangler and had a daughter. Ruby was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a faithful member of the LDS church. She loved her family dearly and served her neighbors diligently. She moved to Arizona in 1971 and lived here until her passing.
Survivors include her son, Charles Cassell of Farmington, New Mexico and daughter, Paula Johnson of Vernon. Grandchildren include Rodney Johnson (Vivian), Doreen Johnson, Russell Johnson (Regina), Barry Johnson (Moon Jung), Amy Johnson, Donald Johnson, Regina Hitchcock (Garry), Amanda McCabe (Jeremy) and Starla Miller. She also had 16 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by both husbands, daughter, Beth Johnson; grandson, Brian Miller; and great grandson, Jordan McCabe.
Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Vernon on Saturday, May 20, at 2 p.m. Viewing will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the church. Interment will be at the Vernon Cemetery. Friends can make donations to RTA Hospice or the American Cancer Society in Ruby's name in lieu of flowers.
