FLEMING, Robert (Scotty)

Robert "Scotty" Fleming passed away peacefully June 14, 2010, with his loving wife of 23 years, Pat (Semelsberger), by his side. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Margaret Fleming; brothers, Alec and John; sisters, Ina Greig, Margaret Boyle, Jane Butcher, and Rena, all of Kilmarnock, Scotland. He is survived by his children, Anthony, John, Michael (Andrea), and Marla; seven grandchildren, Tony, Kalen, Cerra, Kyle, Erin, Abigail, Lauryn; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Robert was born January 5, 1939 in Kilmarnock, Scotland. He graduated from the Grange Academy, began his apprentice at age 15 in painting and decorating. Subsequently he worked as an electroplater at Glaser Metal, received hotel and beverage training and managed several pubs for the Scottish Brewers, sang with the band "Typhoons" and raised German Shepherds. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1962, became a naturalized citizen in 1971 (giving him dual citizenship). He owned, managed and showed his love for the culinary arts as chef in several family run restaurants, naming many of them the Scottish Piper. He indulged his love for the sea by entering the Merchant Marines, first as a Chief Steward for the Delta Cruise Line and eventually as the Hotel Manager for American Hawaii Cruise line. He was an accomplished singer (tenor) with numerous cd's to his credit. He was named official Balladeer of the City of Sierra Vista. Robert had a passion for enjoying life to its fullest. Some of his children's fondest memories are of the numerous outings and camping trips in the California desert, mountains, rivers and lakes. He and Pat also enjoyed cruising to numerous exotic and far away ports such as Tahiti, Australia, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Israel, Caribbean, etc. His family and friends will remember him for his quick wit and dazzling charm, his amazing storytelling, his passion for all life had to offer, and his warm heart. He will be sorely missed. Visitation Saturday June 19, 2010, 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m., ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, 1050 N. Dodge, Tucson, AZ.
