WEST, Lloyd Lowell


Lloyd Lowell West, of Tucson, went home to be with the Lord on April 8, 2010, at the age of 86. Lloyd was born in Port Arthur, Texas on July 24, 1923, to parents, Charles and Ellen West, and raised in the town of Beaumont, Texas. In August 1941, he came to Luke Field in Phoenix with the Army Air Corps. There, he met Juanita Darby in Glendale two months later and the two were married in Salome, Arizona on February 14, 1942. In May of 1956, Lloyd came from the 197th wing in Phoenix to help establish the 162nd Air National Guard in Tucson. He retired from the Air National Guard on October, 1975. Lloyd was a diehard UA Wildcats supporter and avid softball fan, having been a player in the Triple A leagues. Lloyd is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Juanita; two sisters, Marceil Cobb, of Deer Park, Texas and Mildred Burge, of Vidor, Texas; five children, James West (Maureen), Marilyn Hatfield (James), Ronald West (Judy), Linda Reyes and Roger West; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Services for Lloyd Lowell West will be held at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL at 6910 E. Broadway on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 with Viewing at 10:00 a.m., Memorial Services at 11:00 a.m., and burial services at All-Faiths Memorial Cemetery to follow.
