KNUTH, William (Bill) Harvey

The Arizona Daily Star, December 24, 2006 William (Bill) Knuth William was born in Elgin, Illinois on August 4, 1931 and departed this life on December 22, 2006. Bill attended Elgin High School and was always a grocery man. He worked at Max's Grocery in Elgin from a very early age until 1962 when he moved to Tucson for health reasons. He went right to work for Goodman's Grocery and then Lucky Stores until his retirement in 1987. Bill's biggest joy during his retirement was watching his grandkids play sports, especially baseball. He was a life-long Cubs fan and watched every game on television. Maybe they will finally win the Series now that he is an angel in the outfield! Bill was a devoted member of Catalina United Methodist Church and ushered for many years. He was a loving husband to his wife, Dorothy, for 54 years; a loving father to his children, Barbara (Jack) Meyer, Laurel (Dennis) Lindenau and William (Lara) Knuth Jr.; a devoted grandfather to Jack III, Mike (Kara), Nikki, Erick, Brian, Leeandra, Ashleigh, and Connor; and great-grandpa to Nevada, all of Tucson. He is also survived by his sister, Marge (Bill) McDonough of Dundee, Illinois and preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Mae Knuth and his brother, Bob Knuth. Many thanks to the emergency room staff at St. Joseph's Hospital and the staff at TMC Hospice. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2006 at 200 p.m. at Catalina United Methodist Church Memorial Chapel, 2700 E. Speedway, Tucson, AZ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Catalina Methodist Church Special Fund.
