The Huron Daily Tribune, (Bad Axe, MI), Sept. 14, 2009 Ellen Marie Johnson-Gibson-Kresse, 83, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sept. 2, 2009. She was born in Harbor Beach to parents Ida and Edwin Johnson on Nov. 23, 1925. She was raised in Port Hope. She resided in Howell and Ann Arbor, and then became a long-time Tucson, Ariz., resident and most recently a resident of Ogden, Utah. She married Robert Gibson in 1947; they were later divorced. She married Herman Kresse in 1969. He preceded her in death in 1997. She is survived by her two sons, Phillip (Carrie) Gibson of Ogden, Utah and Thomas (Ellen) Gibson of Irvine, Calif.; granddaughter, Dorrie of Ogden, Utah; sister, Geraldine (Don) Faulkner of Palm Desert, Calif.; sister-in-law, Norma Johnson of Port Hope; step-son, Steve Kresse; step-granddaughters, Dawn (Larry) Donovan of Michigan and April (Erik) Daniels of Wisconsin; step-daughter, Mary (Bill) Barnett of Michigan; special niece, Judy (Don) Penzien of South Carolina; and many nieces and nephews. Ellen was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother, living for family and friends. She was also dedicated to plants, pets, people, etc., and her church in Tucson, Catalina United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling a great deal. She excelled at almost anything artistic, and was good at growing everything. A loving light has gone out, however that image remains lovingly etched upon all those she touched. She was a gentle and caring soul with a good heart and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. There will be a memorial service for Ellen at her former residence, the Harrison Regent, 4481 S. Harrison Blvd., Ogden UT 84403, at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 16, 2009, with the Rev. Alane Currier Griggs officiating. In lieu of flowers a memorial donation may be made to the American Lung Association at www.lungusa.org.
