Tommy Mack Thompson, 56, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2009, in Lake Havasu City. He was born on Sept. 23, 1952, in Long Beach, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louie and Lillian Tabor Thompson.
Tommy joined the Air Force in 1971, received his pilot's license, and served a total of four years. Upon completing his military duties he enrolled at college in Fort Smith, Ark., received a nursing degree, and became a licensed RN. He traveled to all 48 continental states, as well as Canada, Mexico, Vietnam and the Philippines. He loved taking his family on adventures with him, especially on the back of his motorcycle. He also enjoyed a wide array of sports, including skydiving, scuba-diving, flying airplanes, racing dirt bikes, cycling, boating, driving fast cars and especially, working on and riding motorcycles.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Brenda; his four children; Andrew, of Fayetteville, Ark., Lucas, of Lake Havasu City, Krissy, of Lake Havasu City, and Jill, of Keota, Okla.; and a sister, Cathy Hirt, of Tyler, Texas.
He worked as an O.R. nurse in the Surgical Department at Havasu Regional Medical Center. Tommy was a warm, loving, generous man, and had a great love for life. He was a wonderful father and loving husband who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Memorial services will be held Friday, 3 p.m. at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. Military honors will be presented by the VFW Post 9401 and American Legion Post 81.
