Happy birthday Mother, today would have been your 93rd birthday. What better place to celebrate than in heaven with all those you loved who left this earth before you? Our family parties here were great but nothing in comparison. We miss you but our comfort is in knowing your spending eternity in heaven.
Edith moved from California to Lake Havasu City in 1996 to be closer to many of her family. Family was her life. She was loving, caring, and most of all self-sacrificing.
Her main focus as a mother was to instill her Christian beliefs to her children and future generations. What better gift can a mother give?
She was a spirited, Southern country girl at heart. Born and raised in Manchester, Ky., living primarily in that area for 35 years until the family moved west to Santa Barbara and then the Los Angeles area. The family loved Kentucky, but there were better job opportunities out West.
She chose to be a homemaker. She loved sewing beautiful clothes for her daughters and herself. Singing and playing the guitar was her greatest talent and enjoyment. She could have been famous, writing and recording a beautiful record in the 1950s, but family came first.
She was married to her wonderful husband, Theodore, for 58 years. He passed on in 1994. He was almost 80. They looked like Paul Newman and Meryl Streep. Our family feels very blessed to have had Theo and Edith for a long time. It never seems to be long enough.
Immediate survivors are all of her children; sons, Paul (Gloria) Philpot, of Prescott, Charles (Diane) Philpot, of Parker; daughters; Suzanne Cascante and Bonnie Salerno (Craig Goodman), of Lake Havasu City; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She outlived many but there are many left — nieces, nephews, cousins, a sister-in-law in Kentucky, and several in-laws by marriage. Some live in the West, most are still in Kentucky. She loved many.
It was a joyful day in heaven, Jan. 2, 2009. Beautiful services were held Jan. 6. Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz Fraze Funeral Home. Burial was next to her husband at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens.
