David Wayne Dye lost his battle with Leukemia May 11, 2006.
He was born June 6, 1967 in Texas City, Texas. David graduated from Mariposa High School in 1985 and attended Humboldt State University in Arcata, Calif. He later decided on the Farrier trade and went to Walla Walla, Wash. to pursue his passion of learning the forging profession. He established a successful horseshoeing business in Las Vegas, Nevada. We was a proud member of the American Farriers Association. He gained many friends in Las Vegas and Mariposa who have been faithful supporters throughout his battle with leukemia.
David developed a lifelong appreciation for the outdoor life, hiking, fishing and ranch type work and continued his love by working in the John Day River Country of Eastern Oregon, the Sawtooth Mountain of Idaho, the White Mountains of Arizona and the deserts and mountains of Southern Nevada and Eastern California.
He loved the National Parks and forest. His lifelong effort to protect and maintain them will always be remembered. David found time to hike the John Muir Trail and the Pacific Coast Trail and to Climb Mt. Whitney. His hiking companions will miss his skilled, intelligent, considerate and good humored company. For those who have met David know that he was "special." He was so loved and will be missed.
