Alice M. Cleary 87, a long time resident of Tucson, passed away at her home in Lincoln, Nebraska on January 16, 2010.
She was born Alice Marie Dunn on April 8, 1922, to Joseph and Katherine (Konkolewski) Dunn in Wood River, Nebraska. She grew up and graduated from Wood River High School in 1939.
On February 12, 1944, she married John F. (Jack) Cleary of Grand Island, Nebraska, at Walker Army Air Field, Victoria, Kansas. They resided in Grand Island until 1953 when they moved to Tucson, Arizona, where they raised their nine children.
Mrs. Cleary retired from the City of Tucson after 42 years. She moved back to Lincoln in 1995, where she remained until her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two sisters.
She is survived by nine children, Mrs. Kathleen Breedlove, John L. Cleary, Ms. Ann Cleary, Brian P. Cleary, Ms. Jeannette Moore, Mrs. Maureen Schaake, Mrs. Colleen LaBarbera, Ms. Elizabeth Antoine, Kevin T. Cleary; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters.
Funeral Mass will be 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at the St. Joseph Church, 215 S. Craycroft Road, Tucson, AZ. Fr. Robert Rodriguez will celebrate.
Interment will follow in Our Lady of the Desert Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway Blvd., Tucson 85710. A Rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Church, Tucson.
