TAWODA, Robert (Bob) J.


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 06/13/2006 Robert "Bob" J. Tawoda, 78 of Lakeside, died June 7, 2006 at RTA Hospice in Lakeside. He was born Nov. 20, 1927 in Chicago, Ill., he grew up and attended school in Queens, Long Island. He attended Manlius Prep in Syracuse. Following high school, he enlisted in the Marine Corps.Following a two-year term, he went to Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA, where he was in ROTC. Bob entered into the Army in 1956 as an officer. He served in Korea as well as Vietnam. He retired from the military as a Lt. Colonel in 1972. He met his future wife in 1949 while attending Bucknell and they were married in 1950. Because of Bob's military service, they lived many places including New Jersey, Colorado, Maryland, Virginia, Germany, and the Philippines. Bob also served in Iran before retiring in Ft. Mead, Maryland in 1972. During retirement he lived in Maryland and Delaware before moving to Lakeside in 2004. Bob is survived by his wife, Mae E. Tawoda of Lakeside; one son, Robert Tawoda of New Tazewell, Tenn.; four daughters Cathleen Kaufman of Mesa, Leanne Tawoda of Pinetop, Janette Wiedel of Mesa, and Elizabeth Skelnik of Gilbert; and 11 grandchildren.
