Donald Ross died June 26, 2006.
He was born May 18, 1934 in Johnstown, Pa. At the age of 17, Don joined the Army and served a year in Korea during the conflict and then went to Germany and France, where he met his wife. After two tours in Vietnam where he was awarded two bronze stars and 22 years of service, Don retired from the Army and then worked for the US Air Force as a civilian, which brought him and his family to Tucson in 1978.
He retired as Deputy Chief of Operations (CES) at Davis Monthan AFB in 1994. He enjoyed his retirement, traveling to Europe and Alaska, and spending summers in Pinetop. He loved to hunt and fish, but most of all, he loved being with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Denise Ross; daughters, Sue Ross, Corinne (Jim) Brooks; sons, Donald Ross, Jr., Rick (Lisa) Ross; granddaughter Chistina (John) Johanson; grandchildren, Melanis and Jacob Brooks, Nick and Mikaela Ross; sisters, James and Gary Ross; sisters, Shirley, Dorothy, Debbie and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Boyd and Goldie Ross; brother, Boyd Ross, Jr; sisters, Dolores and Sandra and daughter, Barbara.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 1 at 10:30 a.m. with military burial to follow at East Lawn Palms.
East Lawn Palms Mortuary handled arrangements.
