GUNVALSON, Robert Neil

Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Wednesday, May 20, 2009 Robert Neil Gunvalson, 83, passed away on March 11, 2009, at Southern Hills Hospital in Las Vegas, Nev. He was born on Dec. 3, 1925, in Spring Valley, Wis., to Hans Christian and Gurina Marie (Anderson) Gunvalson. Robert moved to Lake Havasu City from Waukegan, Ill. He worked in receiving at McCulloch Corp., in Lake Havasu City for 14 years. Robert proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy World War II, Korean and Vietnam era and was a member of the V.F.W. Post 9401. He enjoyed panning for gold and loved all sports, but most of all baseball was his favorite and the Diamondbacks were his favorite team. Robert is survived by his brother; Russell L Gunvalson and wife Idelle, of Rochester, Minn.; sister, Ky Gilbride, of Springfield, Va.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Laverne, in 1993. A celebration of Robert’s life will be held at the VFW Post 9401 on Thursday at 1 p.m. Military honors will be presented by the VFW Post 9401.
